From
The East - 2008

My Friends & Brethren,
I hope this newsletter finds each of you well and surviving the early extreme summer heat. Once again, I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support at our June meeting. The resolution regarding the change in our By-Laws passed unanimously. I believe this change allows us to be healthy financially, and we are without a doubt blessed with strong leadership for the future. You can be proud of your Lodge!
If you were unable to attend the meeting in June, you missed a great evening, conducted by a high speed Mason, our own Junior Warden, Ernest Brown Irby, Jr. Ernie is to be congratulated on a very nicely conducted, entertaining and memorable meeting. Thanks Ernie, great job!
The fun and activities will continue as we move through the summer months and into the fall. At our July 1st Stated Communication, will we will celebrate Senior Warden’s Night and Right Worshipful Guy M. Blankinship, III has a great program planned for us. I hope each of you will support your Lodge and our line officers as they conduct the business and continue to strengthen and grow our Lodge.
Looking further into the future, in August, we will be conducting a Joint Stated Communication with the good brethren from Sandston Lodge 216. This promises to be an evening of sharing good fraternal friendship and brotherhood between our Lodges and will no doubt be fellowship at its best. In September, we will be celebrating Past Master’s Night and I have asked our secretary Worshipful Mike Stewart to occupy the East for the evening. I hope all of our Past Masters, affiliated Past Masters and in fact all members will be attendance. Mike has been busy planning the evening and it promises to be enjoyable. In October, we will be conducting a “Bring a Friend Night”. If you have a friend or a relative whom you believe should be a Mason, please bring him to this meeting. We have a great program planned and an excellent speaker, Right Worshipful Donald Traser will be bringing us the program. I am confident that Don’s presentation will impress you and your guests, and we look forward to gaining some new members from our “Bring a Friend Night”.
We had discussed getting a group together for a salt water fishing trip, and I am very pleased to report that a trip has now been planned for Saturday, September 27th. The boat will leave out of Deltaville, and the trip should prove to be great fun and fellowship. Space is limited on the boat, so please reserve your spot early. I look forward to spending some quality fishing time with our brethren and to the fishing tales that will no doubt become a part of this excursion.
Brethren, we are experiencing a wonderful excitement and spirit in Henrico Union Lodge. If you have not been to Lodge in a while, now would be a great time to come back and be a part of something special. We need and want you to join us as we work together to improve ourselves and our community. I don’t need to tell you how great Masonry can be!
May peace and harmony prevail, and I sincerely look forward to greeting each of you at our July 1st meeting.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Wimpy Isgett

My Friends & Brethren,
Thanks for making the May Stated a great meeting. As
always, it was great to be with each of you again. At our upcoming June Stated
Communication, our own Junior Warden, Ernest Brown Irby, Jr. will preside in the
East, as it will be our Junior Warden’s Night. I know that a terrific meeting
has been planned, and I am pleased that you will have the opportunity to see
first hand what a great year 2010 is going to be because of the hard work and
dedication of officers like Brother Ernie. I am confident that the officers of
your Lodge are working hard for its future.
You should also be aware that we will be taking action on a resolution that was
presented and has laid over as required, pertaining to the dues for coming
years. Please come out and support this resolution, as it is vital and it is
necessary for the successful future of our Lodge.
Proposed Resolution:
Article II of our By-Laws will be changed to read as follows:
Every member of this Lodge except the Tiler shall be charged by the Secretary with the sum of Seventy –Two dollars ($ 72.00) plus Grand Lodge Assessments annually dues for the calendar year 2009; and that amount will increase incrementally $ 5.00 per year for four consecutive successive years in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
I also encourage you to remember our District Picnic
at the Masonic Home of Virginia on Saturday June 7th, from 11:00 am
to 2:00 pm. I look forward to the fun, the fellowship, good food and great
entertainment. Please come out and be a part of it all and help us demonstrate
Masonic pride & spirit.
I can assure you that you will be glad you came!
Looking forward a bit, I have designated our July Stated Communication as Senior Warden’s Night, and Right Worshipful Guy Maury Blankinship, III has big plans for an evening that you will not want to miss. August will be a busy month as we will have a Joint Stated Communication with Sandston Lodge No 216, an Ice Cream Social at the Masonic Home of Virginia, and Ladies Night. I will update you with specific times and dates at our June meeting. We also have a special Past Masters’ Night planned for September. So as you can see, you need to be involved with all of the fun and fellowship in your Lodge. We are working hard to grow and we need your support. Come join me on the sidelines as we watch Brother Ernie in the East on June 3rd. I promise you will be glad that you came! May peace and harmony prevail!

My Friends & Brethren,
Allow me to begin by letting you know just how happy and how proud that I am of each of you and of our wonderful Lodge. Since we last spoke at our meeting, our sausage sale fundraiser was a complete success thanks to all of you who helped in one way or another. Whether it was in the preparation, the sale of the product, if your thoughts were with us during the process, or most especially for purchasing the sausage, I sincerely appreciate and thank each and every one of you for your support. I trust that your families and friends enjoyed the sausage as much as mine has. I can only hope that our bbq turns out as well. As I write this we have just completed the production and distribution of the bbq on Saturday April 12th. I extend a very special thanks to all who have worked so diligently in an effort to make both fundraising projects a success. Keep your fingers crossed for positive results on our bbq project as we begin to tally up our sales. Preliminary indications are that it too will be successful, thanks to your support.
We have had four great months, and are ready for the next quarter. It is my hope that each of you, as able, will attend your May Stated meeting as I would like to discuss with you the state of Henrico Union 130.
Also as a reminder, our summer dress shirts are now available, and if you have not yet ordered yours, please see our Senior Steward, Brother Joe Hardwicke or myself and we will be glad to see each of you sporting the latest fashion.
Brethren, let me tell you once more how fortunate you are to have (excepting myself) the greatest group of officers that a Lodge could ever want! They are hard workers who love Freemasonry. May peace and harmony prevail. I look forward to being with each of you on May 6th.
Sincerely and Fraternally,

My Friends & Brethren,
Well, another month and another great meeting.
Thanks to each of you for your part, if nothing else just for being there.
It is always good to be with those who took the same obligations. Right
Worshipful Bill Rorer in a most excellent manner presented Brother Alan Davis
his sixty year Masonic veteran’s awards with his wife and family present in an
open session. Congratulations Brother Davis and we pray your wife is recovering
well and we look forward to you being back in Lodge soon.
We have a busy schedule coming up. Our world famous
sausage sale will take place on March 28th, and on April 12th,
our homemade barbecue will be ready for sale. Please continue to sell and buy
both sausage and barbecue. Both are delicious, and the funds will be a great
help to our Lodge. If any of you can help prepare one or both, please call
myself or our Senior Warden, Right Worshipful Guy Blankinship. We are trying to
be fiscally responsible and the funds raised through these two sales will go a
long way to helping us meet that goal. I would like to point out that our
Treasurer, our Secretary, and our Tiler have all volunteered a salary decrease
(as much as (50 %) to assist the Lodge through some tough financial
times. Please do your part with the sausage and bbq sales.
Our speaker for April will be Worshipful Eric App, and without question, I know you will enjoy his presentation. Brethren, I encourage you all to think about the obligations that we took, and to remember to do good unto all. Consider our sick and distressed. I look forward to being with each of you and I hope that you will bring a brother to Lodge with you.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Wimpy Isgett

My friends and Brethren,
How
quickly time goes by! Already we are moving into our third month, however I
believe we have had a good start in our Masonic Year. Our February meeting
was with much success, largely because of the official visit of our District
Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Tom Fifer who brought us a great message
from our Grand Master and some humor of his own. Thanks Right Worshipful Tom,
for making your official visit a great meeting.
In March, we will have a visit from Right Worshipful Bill Rorer, Jr., our Grand Senior Warden. I look forward to Bill being present and he will assist us in presenting two of our members with their 60 year Masonic veteran's awards. Let's have a great turnout again and welcome Bill as he will be our Grand Master in 2010.
Since we last met, we lost one of our brethren, Brother Wiley Winston Morgan, Jr. Our own Junior Warden, Brother Ernie Irby, Jr. conducted the memorial service in a most excellent and impressive manner. Thanks Ernie!
Remember that our sausage fund raiser is scheduled for March 28. Any brother who is able to help make and prepare the sausage for sale, please let me know. We need your assistance on work day and your sales in advance. With the great start we have had lets come together as a team and make Henrico Union a Lodge to envy. Our summer shirts are in. Our Lodge name and number are embroidered on the shirt, as is the Masonic emblem. You will be proud to wear the shirt to Lodge and anywhere else, as they will be comfortable and stylish for us in the summertime. They are beautiful and cost only $26.00 each. Please see Brother Joe Hardwicke to order yours.
I look forward to being with each of you at our March meeting.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Wimpy Isgett, Sr.
Worshipful Master 2008

Brethren,
Thanks again for having me as your Worshipful Master. At our January stated meeting we had a lot of good ideas come up as to how we can help the finances of the Lodge and I think it was the consensus of the members present that we move forward with these. We are breaking into some new events that require the help of all of the brethren. On March 28th, we will have our first homemade sausage sale. We will sell 500 pounds of sausage at $ 2.50 per pound. It will be packaged in 2 pound containers each. This has the potential to grow into a huge success in the future. Please plan to participate. Sell! Sell! Sell! Also a BBQ sale for April 12th has been scheduled. We have the potential to make $ 1500.00 to $ 2000.00 plus this year on these two projects so let’s get together as a team and Sell! Sell! Sell!
We are fortunate to have our District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Claude Thomas Fifer, Jr. for his official visit at our February Stated Communication. Let’s turn out in numbers and give him a big Henrico Union welcome. I look forward to being with each of you.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Wimpy

Brethren,
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me in allowing me to serve as master in Henrico Union Lodge. To be listed among the names of the Past Masters of this Lodge is a most humbling experience.
You have elected without question, from the Senior Warden to the Junior Steward, the best line of officers a master could want to work with. Along with your help and prayers, Henrico Union will have a most successful seven years.
I was alarmed in November during the audit
committee report to learn of the financial difficulty of our Lodge. We have for
a number of years taken away far too much from our savings with no replacing of
funds. With your help this year, I trust we can make changes to this by way of
fundraisers, etc... At our January meeting I would like to expand on those
thoughts,
so I trust we can have a Lodge full for that meeting. January will be without a
speaker so that we may have ample time to discuss our options.
For those of you who missed the December 7th installation of officers, what a treat you missed. The relationship with Sandston 216 has been great, and I look forward to many more years of continued success.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Wimpy
